Kathleen Mayes
About the Author
Kathleen Mayes is a respected performer and educator from Southern New Jersey, known for her artistry on Classical Guitar and Renaissance Lute. She holds degrees from Rowan University and Drexel University, and studied under renowned Segovia disciple Larry Snitzler and international performer Julian Gray.
For more than thirty years, she taught classical guitar, music history, and theory as a faculty member at Rowan University. During that time, she also maintained an active performance schedule, playing both concerts and background music throughout Philadelphia and South Jersey.
Her recordings include a solo album, Music from the Bistro, and three duet albums with her partner Joseph Mayes: The Schoole of Musicke, Romance, and Sketches for 2. In 2010, the duo made their Carnegie Hall debut.
Ms. Mayes has collaborated with numerous esteemed guitar and Renaissance ensembles, including the Grove Guitar Quartet. Her classical guitar quartet arrangements are published by Guitar Chamber Music Press.
Now retired from the classroom and the concert stage, Kathleen has traded her sheet music for stories. She’s having a blast writing mysteries filled with music, ghosts, and just the right amount of mischief.
